Combs Bar-B-Q- Central in Middletown

Decided to road trip to try out one of the top BBQ places in the state. Got a pork sandwich combo. Got potato salad, baked beans and Mac n cheese. Pulled pork had very little flavor to it but was moist and a nice sweet sauce on it. Bun didn't seem to be very fresh. Potato salad was definitely homemade, mayonnaise based with pickle in it. Not bad. Mac n cheese had plenty of cheese and was very thick, made on the stove, not baked, not bad tasting. Baked beans were straight out of can, they added just a touch of brown sugar. When you enter you place your order at the counter and they bring it out when it is ready. The owner was on vacation so they had no brisket or chicken available . Not sure how you go on vacation and not have two of your main selling products available. Need a better plan for the future. Had plenty of seating available inside and out.

Got the half rack of ribs & 2 sides to go. The ribs were fine but the sides were so salty you could not eat them at all. I immediately called & was basically told sorry you don’t like them. The mac n’ cheese & green beans have never tasted like this in the past. I’m all about supporting our local businesses but not this one again. Regrets

Very good food. Call ahead as there’s quite a long wait sometimes(pre covid). Well worth the wait though.

The friendly staff got my order in and out quickly. The brisket was very tender with just the right amount of smoke flavor. The bbq sauce is sweet and tangy it's like a berry BBQ and it's very good! As far as sides go the mac and cheese is very creamy and the green beans are out of this world! My favorite by far.I would like to see them make more food items and extend their menu. Over all, Combs BBQ is a great family restaurant and covid-19 friendly because they will serve you on the outdoor patio 😊Happy customer
